10 Films With The Most F-Bombs

Last night, I reviewed ‘The Hitman’s Bodygurad’ and that film was not short of profanity in the slightest, with Sam Jackson alone notching up 128 swears in the two-hour runtime of summer action flick. There was 184 f-bombs throughout the feature but that doesn’t come close to some of the numbers here. Here are the top 10 films with the most f-bombs.

10. Sweet Sixteen (2002) – F*cks Given: 313

As you can see from the first entry in our list, ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ really doesn’t scratch the surface when it comes to f-bombs in movies.

This crime drama from director, Ken Loach, managed to warrant a rating of 86/100 on Metacritic, coupled with a 7.5/10 on IMDB. It isn’t the most well known film in the world but it sure pushes the boundaries of profanity.

9. Running Scared (2006) – F*cks Given: 315running-scared-2006

Wayne Kramer wrote and directed this action flick. Featuring Paul Walker as Joey Gazelle in the lead role, this 2006 film was panned by critics but seemingly enjoyed by fans. I personally don’t know much about this film, and had to look into it, but for what it’s worth, it’s probably worth a watch.

40% on Rotten Tomatoes, 40/100 on Metacritic and a 7.4/10 on IMDB coupled with two more f-bombs than our previous entry slips ‘Running Scared’ into the number 9 position on our list.

8. Twin Town (1997) – F*cks Given: 318_93044843_p04lzxw4

Julian and Jeremy, two brothers known as the “Lewis Twins”, played by the Ifans twins, Rhys and Llyr, prefer to spend their time on drugs and joyriding. When their father, Fatty Lewis, breaks his leg working for local bigwig Bryn Cartwright, they show up demanding compensation. Underestimating the vicious humour of the twins Bryn brusquely refuses to pay for the un-insured Fatty and unleashes a ferocious feud. Plus, this film is set in Swansea, which is a massive plus in my mind.

6.7 on IMBD and 46% on Rotten Tomatoes. I think there’s theme establishing itself here, critics really don’t like swear words en masse.

7. End Of Watch (2012) – F*cks Given: 326a103df0e-4552-4af4-9041-25c2a457a018

This film, written and directed by David Ayer, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, is the first film of our list to actually be decently reviewed by the critics. Shot in the style of a documentary, the film follows the daily grind of two young police officers in LA who are partners and friends, and what happens when they meet criminal forces greater than themselves.

With 7.7 on IMDB and 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, End of Watch must be a pretty decent watch, even if it’s got 326 f-bomb in it.

6. Alpha Dog (2007) – F*cks Given: 367large-alphadog

Bruce Willis, Justin Timberlake and a lot of profanity is a formula that really does equal entertainment. Nick Cassavetes writes and directs this 2007 film that only made $14million at the box office in total.

Pretty much straight to DVD, this profanity filled feature is still somewhat entertaining to this day, even if it’s not the best film ever made.

5. Straight Outta Compton (2015) – F*cks Given: 392straight-outta-compton

This is the newest film on the list, and the third highest rated of the entire list, too.  The group NWA emerges from the mean streets of Compton in Los Angeles, California, in the mid-1980s and revolutionizes Hip Hop culture with their music and tales about life in the hood. I’ve never actually seen this film, but I understand the significance of it. Based on what it is, I’m actually surprised there aren’t more swears in it. Univerally approved by fans and just under 400 f-bombs put this halfway through our countdown.

4. Casino (1995) – F*cks Given: 422MV5BOGM0NTQyMmEtYzlhMi00MDMxLWIxZTYtODkyYjkzNmI2ZWQyXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNjUwNzk3NDc@._V1_

This just missed out on the accolade of highest rated film on thelist by 0.1 of a rating. Robert De Niro as Sam ‘Ace’ Rothstein flourishes under Martin Scorsese’s direction as Sam ‘Ace’ Rothstein  a mob-connected casino operator in Las Vegas, attempts a civilized lifestyle with his money-conditional wife, Ginger, played by Sharon Stone. Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci), a boyhood friend of Ace and now a Made-Man of the Mafia, arrives in town with an ambitious agenda of his own that soon disrupts Ace’s life.

This film managed to make a loss at the box office despite the fans taking this film to heart. De Niro and the Casino setting mixes into a cocktail of good times and profanity.

3. Nil By Mouth (1997) – F*cks Given: 428site_28_rand_50184677_nil_by_mouth_maxed

Directed and written by Gary Oldman, of all people, Nil By Mouth stars Ray Winston as Raymond, in this family orientated drama. Issues occur when Raymond’s wife, Valerie, played by Kathy Burke’s brother Billy (Charlie Creed-Miles) gets into the drug game and forces Raymond’s hand into kicking him out of the house after taking him in.

This film won the BAFTA for best original screenplay for Gary Oldman’s work on the film, however, it isn’t really adored by fans, but there is worse. Plus, it’s got Ray Winston in, which pretty much equates to swearing, leading to it’s third place finish on this list.

2. Summer of Sam (1999) – F*cks Given: 435Summer-of-Sam-john-leguizamo-1438836-908-800

Spike Lee’s take on the “Son of Sam” murders in New York City during the summer of 1977 centering on the residents of an Italian-American Northeast Bronx neighborhood who live in fear and distrust of one another. John Leguizamo and Adrien Brody star in the 1999 crime drama that really pushes the boundaries of what it means to swear in movies. 435 swears in a 142 minute feature is obscene, it works out to be 3.06 f*cks a minute. Functioning on a budget of just $22m, the film opened in the US earning just shy of $8m on opening weekend back in ’99, so maybe there is some draw for swear-fests.

1. The Wolf Of Wall Street (2013) – F*cks Given: 569leo

And in number one, the highest rated, the best received, the most loved and unanimously the sweariest film on this list. The Wolf Of Wall Street takes the number one spot with a frankly bonkers 569 f-bombs throughout it’s 180 minute run time. Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, from his rise to a wealthy stock-broker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government, Leonardo Di Caprio and Jonah Hill combine to make a piece of cinema that was truly outstanding. With Martin Scorsese making his second appearance on the list, he clearly has a thing for the swear, and especially the f-bomb.

Fuck you, Scorsese. That makes us friends, right?
